A series of images relating to and surrounding the sale of MG Rover by BMW and the subsequent changes at the then largest UK motor manufacturer. It had been hoped to include an interview and portrait of John Towers, CBE of the Phoenix Consortium but he declined. My clients brief was that I should shoot black and white, use strong lighting and get all models to do something with their hands.

Shot at the union offices in Dagenham on the day that Ford announced the phased closure of that car plant. My sitters response to making a hand gesture was that in that very moment all he could think to do was to place his palms together and pray - not an image he wanted to show the camera in that moment.
